Research Cooperation with University of Graz, Center for Southeast European Studies (CSEES)

27 March 2025

To foster further academic cooperation, after a competitive selection process, Dr. Seim was invited to attend the 2024/25 winter semester as Visiting Fellow at the Dimensions of Europe Research Program and Centre for Southeast European Studies (CSEES) at the University of Graz. This was a good opportunity for academic networking and exchange of ideas to pursue new research paths about the fall of Yugoslavia and the war in Bosnia, as well as Bosnia’s challenging post-war reintegration, memory battles, and institutional-political dysfunctionality.

As part of the cooperation with the Center for Southeast European Studies (CSEES), on 26 November 2024, Seim offered a 1-hour university presentation for staff and postgraduate students of the 376-page doctoral dissertation "The Road to War in the Bosnian Municipality of Kotor Varoš in 1992: A Microhistory" – which will be prepared for publication at an internationally prestigious academic publishing house. The lecture discussed the methodological foundations, source material, research challenges, results, and preliminary conclusions of this fresh doctoral dissertation from 2023 about the road to war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
